General Information

What do I wear to a Reformer Pilates class?

Keep it comfy! Activewear is best and don’t forget your grippy socks – but if you do, don’t stress we have grippy socks in studio for purchase.

I’ve never done a Pilates class before – do I need to have experience to join a class?

Not at all! Our classes cater to all levels, whether you're a seasoned pro or a Pilates first-timer. Our friendly instructors will guide you through every move with care.

How early should I arrive for my class?

To make the most of your experience, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes before your scheduled class. It gives you time to settle in and get ready.

What's unique about Reformer Pilates?

The reformer machine takes the traditional Pilates game up a notch, making every session super effective and enjoyable – they blend strength, flexibility, and cool mindfulness vibes.

Can I join classes with specific fitness goals?

Absolutely! Whether you're toning up, relieving stress, or building core strength, our classes are tailored to various fitness goals. Let us know your why, and we'll help you reach your Pilates goals.

Are classes social or more individual-focused?

It's a mix of both! Our boutique studio creates a warm community atmosphere, but each class allows for personal attention. You'll get the benefits of a group setting with the individualised support you need.

Is there parking?

There is 2-hour parking on Bridge Street, and there is also a Free 2-hour Council carpark across the road from the studio.

MEMBERSHIP

Can I put my membership on hold?

Of course you can. We do require 7 days notice and then we can put your membership on hold for up to 3 weeks or up to 6 weeks if you have an injury. The benefit of being on a membership is that your booking time is secure even if you have had to put your membership on hold.

How does the payment work?

Most payments are run via a direct debit/auto pay system. This streamlines the process and allows you to focus on your Pilates practice. We accept either credit/debit cards or a bank account to set up the direct debit.

Can I do extra classes over and above what my membership offers?

You sure can. The extra class or session you do will be charged to you at the same rate per class as your membership.

What is the benefit of being on membership?

So many benefits... guaranteed recurring bookings at your preferred time. We offer 10% off retail purchases. You will have access to our allied health specialists. You are investing in a commitment to your own health and wellness.

I don’t want to commit to a 12-month Membership, what are my options?

We totally get that, life can be unpredictable and 12 months seems like a long time. We do have 3 month memberships or 10 packs which are at higher rates per class. Remember, committing to a membership is making a commitment to yourself for your own health and wellness. We think you are worth it.

Do I need to do an Initial Consultation?

Well, that depends! If you are wanting to do Studio sessions, then yes, you need to start off with an Initial Consultation. During the IC, we will get to know you, discuss your goals, understand your body and potential injuries or restrictions. We will get you moving and start to build a program that will lead you on the road to achieving your goals.

MUMS AND BUBS

What age is suitable for Mum’s and Bubs?

Our specific Mum’s and Bubs classes are for babies from 6 weeks to 6 months (or older if they are happy to stay seated in a bouncer or pram). Your baby can either be in a pram, bring a bouncer/capsule or lay your baby down on a mat next to your Reformer. Whatever suits you and your baby on the day, we want you to both feel comfortable and at home at My Pilates Studio.

When can I start after having my baby?

Once you have seen your doctor at 6 weeks and received clearance to exercise, you can start Mum’s and Bubs. We will gently ease you into exercise and use the Reformer to enhance some amazing stretches for your achy body.

Can I attend regular Reformer classes?

We recommend you get started with Mum’s and Bubs and then progress to coming to regular Reformer classes (without your baby). We know how precious it is to find time for yourself as a new mum and if you are able to come along to My Pilates Studio twice a week, you will really start to feel the difference in your body.

What happens if my baby is unsettled during the class?

At My Pilates Studio we know how tricky it is to find the ‘best’ time do something for yourself while you have your baby! Sometimes it is easier when your Bub is asleep and other times, you will find your Bub wide awake during class.

Either is great and we will work around it. If your Bub is feeling fussy and needs a cuddle, we are always happy to help and very often after a quick cuddle and chat, your Bub will settle down and let you finish your class.
